San Agustín Archaeological Park

The San Agustin Archaeological Park was founded in 1935, and is currently the largest necropolis in the world. In it are indigenous sites, archaeological remains of a sculptor and artist people that represent what once was the Augustinian culture. These sculptures are tributes to the funeral rites of the ancient inhabitants of the region, who believed deeply in life after death and worshipped numerous gods, among which some animals and the elements of nature stood out. 💡Curiosities In this park of 78 hectares, you will also find the Luis Duque Gómez House Museum, where you can appreciate a varied collection of archaeological objects of the Augustinian culture. It also houses the Bosque de las Estatuas where you will see 35 sculptures made of stone in different degrees of elaboration. Finish the tour riding along the ecological trails that pass through the imposing Magdalena Strait, to the three sites of the Park: San Agustín, Alto de los ídolos and Alto de las Piedras.
