Located in the historic centre of the city, it is one of the largest and most elegant squares in Cartagena de Indias. Here was located the Casa de la Aduana, an imposing colonial building, through which all commerce entered. Nowadays, this building houses the District Mayor's Office. 💡Curiosities The founder of Cartagena, Don Pedro de Heredia, lived in this square. On the occasion of the anniversary of the Discovery of America, the statue of Christopher Columbus was unveiled on 12 October 1894, showing the "discoverer" with an indigenous woman.
