Puracé Natural National Park

The Puracé National Natural Park was declared by UNESCO in 1979 as a biosphere reserve. Located an hour and a half from Popayán, it is one of the most important destinations for those who love ecological tourism and trekking. The park is located in a volcanic area, and its name -Puracé- means "mountain of fire" in the local Quechua language. Today, visitors can enjoy a variety of activities such as hiking. It has routes of varying difficulty and length, designed for visitors with more or less training. It is also possible to carry out observation of cultural heritage, and wildlife. 💡Curiosities From the water point of view, the park is probably the most important star of Colombia, since three of the country's emblematic rivers originate there: the Magdalena, the Cauca and the Caquetá; and it has beautiful lagoons.
